A message from your president:

Welcome to 2009-2010 SEMOSCA!

From President Sherri Scherer

I am so excited to be your president this year!  We have a lot planned for you at the local and state levels.  Our first SEMOSCA meeting will be at SEMO’s University Center on October 2, 2010.  Within this newsletter you will find more information regarding our meeting.  I hope everyone can attend!

Although we have already been in school for a month, I still hear everyone saying that there seems to be more and more to do.  We wear many hats, as most of you have heard for years, and that will probably never change.  But it does seem that with today’s economy, foreign affairs, and the state of our own country, the children we deal with have many issues which hit closer and closer to home.  I hope that by being a part of SEMOSCA and MSCA, you will have many chances to learn more, meet colleagues, and share in the many networking opportunities provided.

SEMOSCA’s quarterly newsletter will be electronic this year.  We are updating our website continually.  You have many individuals who are representing you on the Governing Board.  If you ever have any questions or suggestions, always feel free to contact any Governing Board member.  I hope you will find this year a rewarding one, not only from all of the work that you do, but also from being a part of a great group of people!

New Counselor Workshop

All new counselors have an opportunity to meet together with a member of the governing board and discuss concerns, issues, anxieties, plans and programs.  Please arrive by 8:15 to register, pay dues and find the room.

Due to construction and other events that are taking place, please park in the front parking lot of the Show-Me Center and there will be a shuttle to take everyone up to the University Center.  Please print out and place the attached parking permit in your front window.

During the last governing board meeting—it was discussed and voted on that this year’s 50/50 drawing would benefit the Walt Davidson Foundation which provides scholarship monies to counseling students. Thank you to all who generously donate!

The next SEMOSCA meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Dexter Hickory Lodge.  Registration will take place at 4:30, with the meal beginning at 5:00 pm
