Department of History 

POSITION: Full-time, tenure-track, assistant professor in the Department of History, in Ancient/ Medieval European history. Review will begin November 30, 2009.

 DATE: Position available August 2010, pending funding.

 RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the History Department; conducting research in area(s) of expertise; departmental service.

 QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D., ABD (with Ph.D. by August 2010) in Ancient and/or Medieval European history; demonstrated potential for teaching at the college/university level; evidence of scholarly potential; ability to incorporate technology into the classroom; demonstrated commitment to working with multicultural populations and awareness of the issues affecting women and minorities.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and professional experience. Excellent fringe benefits included.

 A representative will conduct preliminary scheduled interviews at the American Historical Association conference in San Diego, 7-10 January 2010, but applicants need not be interviewed to be considered. 

 THE DEPARTMENT: The department includes 12 faculty members and has over 200 undergraduate majors and graduate students.  In addition to a B.A. in History, the department offers a B.S. in Historic Preservation, a B.S. Ed in Social Studies Education and an MA in History.
