Welcome to our website!
The Historic Preservation
Association is a student group here at Southeast
Missouri State University comprised of undergraduate and
graduate students in historic preservation, history,
anthropology and other related (and unrelated)
disciplines.
Our mission is to:
·
bring together the beginning and
advanced students of historic preservation with faculty
and community leaders;
· encourage
the spirit of regional preservation of historic sites,
artifacts, and cultures that will reflect ongoing trends
nationwide;
·
and to foster involvement with
preservation activities and various other organizations
while providing resources for higher education and job
opportunities.
We plan
to host volunteer projects, guest speakers and field trips to regional sites such as Ste.
Genevieve, Missouri, Springfield Illinois, and Wickliffe Mounds, Kentucky, so
that members have a chance to interact and
experience the area, people and profession.
We also hold an Annual Spring
Banquet to wrap up our school year and reflect back on
all we have done! A guest speaker is invited to give a
short talk on their involvement in historic preservation
and offer a personal view of projects and experiences.
We encourage anyone with an
interest in history, preservation, or just getting
involved with a great group of individuals to stop by
one of our meetings or email us and let us know about
yourself!
