Full Time
The Library
Associate oversees the Instructional Materials Center, which contains Kent
Library’s education and juvenile collections, as well as audiovisual materials.
Primary Responsibilities
·
Oversees
the day-to-day operations of the Instructional Materials Center and makes
recommendations for improvements
·
Coordinates
student coverage of the Instructional Materials Center service desk
·
Hires,
trains, supervises and evaluates student assistants for the Instructional
Materials Center
·
Assists
patrons at the Reference Desk, including some evenings and weekends
·
Responds
proactively to meet the research and information needs of library users
·
Develops
and maintains expertise with print and electronic information retrieval
sources, including the circulation system
·
Participates
in the Library through attendance at meetings and service on committees
·
Assists
with department projects and initiatives
Required Qualifications
·
Bachelor’s
degree
·
Training
or supervisory experience
·
Relevant
work experience in a library or coursework in a library science program
·
Excellent
interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
·
Excellent
organizational skills
·
Proficient
computer skills, including familiarity with an integrated library system
·
Demonstrated
ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team player
·
Ability
to work nights and weekends
·
Ability
to lift 30 pounds with or without accommodations
·
Demonstrated
experience and understanding of customer service
·
Demonstrated
commitment to working with multi-cultural populations and an awareness of
issues affecting women and minorities
Compensation: Commensurate
with education and experience. The
