Title III Biology
Laboratory Education and Renovation Project

The College of
Science and Mathematics has received $2,000,000 from the U.S. Department of
Education Title III Strengthening Institutions program. The project includes renovation of biology
teaching laboratories, supporting faculty in redesigning courses around inquiry
and technology, and documenting progress on project goals. The complex nature
of the project requires personnel engaged in several sectors of the University
as well as external consultants. A full time Title III Project Coordinator will
report to the Project Director and provide day to day management of the project
as well as ensuring compliance with Title III policies and grant
conditions. Project funding continues
for five years, beginning in October 2009.
Primary Responsibilities
·
Assists
the Project Director with all coordination, management, evaluation, and
communications relating to the Title III project activity
·
Assists
the Project Director in managing all operational aspects of the project to lead
in accomplishment of project goals
·
Collaborates
with multiple sectors including the External Evaluator, Internal Evaluation Committee,
Steering Committee and involved biology faculty to conduct, analyze and
interpret formative and summative evaluations that assess achievement of
project objectives and the final outcomes linked to project goals
·
Facilitates
communications about the Title III program and specific objectives of the
project to all University constituents and the larger community
·
Attends
annual meetings at the U.S. Department of Education
·
Collects
required data for report generation
·
Prepares
grant compliance reports
·
Prepares
budget reports
·
Establishes
meeting schedules
·
Documents
all activities related to the project
·
Coordinates
with Facilities Management Project Manager regarding the renovation of
infrastructure required to institutionalize the Title III project activity
Required Qualifications
·
Master’s
degree in biology, science education, higher education or related field
·
Experience
with college laboratory education
·
Experience
working in a University setting
·
Experience
in project management or related experience administering grants
·
Excellent
interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
·
Demonstrated
ability to work as a member of a team
·
Excellent
organizational and time management skills
·
Proficient
computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing, email and the Internet
·
Demonstrated
ability to establish and maintain professional relationships within and
external to the organization
·
Demonstrated
experience and understanding of customer service
·
Demonstrated
commitment to working with multi-cultural populations and awareness of issues
affecting women and minorities
Compensation:
Commensurate with education and experience. The University provides an excellent benefits
