SERVICE POSITION

 

SHUTTLE BUS DRIVER

Department of Public Safety & Transit

Part Time/Temporary

 

Primary Responsibilities

·          Drives established shuttle routes, following scheduled arrival and departure times

·          Maintains logs of boardings and alightings of all passengers and prepares them for recording

·          Ensures pre-trip vehicle inspections are completed and that minor mechanical diagnostics are recorded and reported for repair and fuels buses when necessary

·          Assists passengers with disabilities during boardings and alightings

·          Keeps assigned bus orderly and free of debris, sweeping and emptying trash as necessary

·          Maintains a valid Class C Commercial drivers license with Passenger Endorsement

·          Maintains a valid DOT Medical Certificate

 

Required Qualifications

·          High school diploma or GED

·          Ability to read and understand manuals, write logs and reports

·          Possess a current Class C Commercial drivers license with Passenger Endorsement

·          Ability to assist all passengers during emergency evacuation of the bus

·          Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·          Must be available to drive days, evenings and weekends and late nights regardless of weather conditions

·          Must comply with pre-employment drug testing and random drug/alcohol testing during employment

·          Ability to pass an extensive criminal/background check

·          Evidence of excellent driving record with no DWI’s

·          Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service

·          Demonstrated commitment to working with multi-cultural populations and awareness of issues affecting women and minorities

 

Compensation:  $9.15 per hour
