Performance Appraisals

2008 Information

Performance Appraisal Instructions and the  Performance Appraisal Forms are now available in Word format on the Human Resources web site, located at http://www4.semo.edu/humanresources/forms.  Performance appraisals should be completed by the department so that they can be forwarded to the Reviewer by
April 18
.  However, individual Reviewers may alter the schedule for completion of departmental performance appraisals.  The Reviewer will complete the reviews so that the appraisal forms will be received in Human Resources by May 2.  These target dates are necessary to allow the information to be compiled and reported to the Board of Regents for approval in June.

The forms can be downloaded, completed in Word, and printed for signatures.  The supervisor and employee should sign the appraisal form and keep a copy for their records.  The appraisal form should then be forwarded to the Reviewer.  If the Reviewer makes no revisions/comments on the appraisal form, the Reviewer will sign the appraisal form and forward the original to Human Resources.  If any changes are made by the Reviewer, the Reviewer will make a copy of the revised appraisal and distribute to the supervisor and employee before the appraisal is forwarded to Human Resources.  If you do not have Internet access to download the forms, please contact the Human Resources office.

Since final legislation on the state budget has not yet occurred and the recommendations of the Budget Review Committee have not yet been presented to the President or the Board of Regents, salary increase information is unavailable at this time.  Because merit is a significant component of our salary increase process, staff who begin their employment after March 31, 2008, will not have a full opportunity to demonstrate meritorious performance and are not eligible for salary increases.  Supervisors are encouraged to use the performance appraisal forms for recently hired staff to communicate progress during the probationary period.

Grant funded staff whose contract cycle is July 1 to June 30 are eligible for salary increases on July 1 only if there are sufficient funds in the next grant period.  Grant funded employees whose contract cycles are other than July 1 to June 30 may be eligible for a salary increase later if the grant is renewed and there are sufficient funds in the grant budget.

If you have questions about the performance appraisal process, contact the Human Resources office for assistance at extension 6192.
