MISSION

In keeping with the University's Mission, the Office of Institutional Research is a service unit that provides management information and centralized reporting services to clients both within and external to the University. The information provided assists with decision making, policy development and the implementation of alternative solutions through a variety of analytic activities, data gathering, interpretation and research projects. In fulfillment of this, the office assists the institution in understanding the external environment, its opportunities and challenges to build on institutional strengths and values to aid decision-makers in setting directions which will guide policy and strategies to achieve the University's mission.

Institutional Research Statements of Purpose

To serve the executive administrative function of the University by providing a reliable and proactive information management and decision-support system.

To generate data, information, and analytical reports on institutional research topics designed to improve information usage in the planning and decision making processes utilized at Southeast Missouri State University.

To provide systematic collection and reporting of standard institutional, regional, environmental and student-centered information for institutional planning and assessment

To reply in a punctual manner to ad hoc requests for descriptive information, data, and analytical reports.

To provide administrative leadership and support to the university's academic and student learning outcomes assessment initiatives.

To be aware of, and make others aware of, the data needs in assessment and planning for institutional purposes.

To ensure that information released to institutional constituencies is factually correct and timely, and to determine, with the appropriate institutional vice president, when information has become "public" institutional information through careful monitoring of information usage by these constituencies.
