PY 495 INTERNSHIP IN PSYCHOLOGY

The internship in psychology is a 3 hour course that is designed to provide students an opportunity to gain practical experience in professional psychology settings. As such it serves the purposes of providing students with marketable professional work experiences related to their academic training, provides them an opportunity to apply their knowledge and research skills, and promotes the development of new skills relevant to the profession of psychology. Students are expected to work 8-10 hours per week at the site, meet weekly with both their site supervisor and course professor, complete an organizational analysis, daily/weekly activity logs, and a course paper that integrates course readings with their internship experiences. During the academic year 1996 the Psychology department had 18 students enrolled in the PY 495 Internship in Psychology course.
