    Shape Up Southeast

     

    Shape Up Southeast Rules & Procedures

     

    1.       DATES
    Shape Up Southeast will begin on Monday, February 3 and end on Sunday, April 13, 2014. Registration deadline is Friday, January 31, 2014,
    5 p.m

     

    2.       DIVISIONS
    There are two divisions: A) Open Division - i.e. faculty, staff, retirees, their spouses, student, and members of the Board of Regents and B) Student Division - Southeast students and their spouses. Teams in each category may be co-ed. Each team shall consist of a minimum of two (2) and a maximum of ten (10) people. Contest divisions are based on team size and are comprised as follows:  I. Bachelors (2-4 team members), II. Masters (5-7 team members), and III. Doctorate (8-10 team members).

     

    3.       SUBSTITUTION
    Teams losing a member during the contest for legitimate reasons (health, relocation, etc.) must replace that team member as points are figured based on team size at the time of registration. This replacement must be approved by the Department of Recreation Services. Contact Sara Wagganer, Assistant Director, Fitness & Wellness (573-651-2367/swagganer@semo.edu).

     

    4.       TEAM CAPTAIN
    Each team will designate a captain for communication and reporting purposes. 

     

    5.       ONLINE REGISTRATION & POINT ENTRY
    Registration and point entries will be submitted online.  No paper point entry will be accepted. For computer lab information, contact Office of Information Technology (573-651-2217/ contact@semo.edu) or log on http://www.semo.edu/cs/services/computerlabs.htm.  For assistance for the online registration and point entry, please contact Sara Wagganer, Assistant Director, Fitness & Wellness (573-651-2367/swagganer@semo.edu).

     

    6.       POINT ENTRY DEADLINES
    Individual team members will log their activities on the Shape Up Southeast Web site each Tuesday by 11 p.m. throughout the contest. NO LATE SUBMISSIONS ACCEPTED. Team members must coordinate point entry for those who may not have a personal Internet access. NO LATE SUBMISSIONS ACCEPTED FOR THOSE WITHOUT PERSONAL INTERNET ACCESS.

     

    7.       POINT ENTRY PROBLEMS

    Individuals who experience technical difficulties when submitting their points online must contact Sara Wagganer, Assistant Director, Fitness & Wellness (573-651-2367/swagganer@semo.edu) immediately before the following point entry deadline.

     

    8.       ACTIVITY LEVELS
    Activities will consist of three levels: 1) Routine Physical Activity, 2) Moderate Intensity Activity, and 3) Aerobic Conditioning Activity. See the Contest Point Values for a detailed listing of activities and assigned point values. Activities can be done anywhere - home, outside, gym, the Student Recreation Center, walking trail, community fitness centers, etc.

     

    9.       WINNER DETERMINATION
    Winners will be determined based on the average points per team member earned during the contest period. When there is a tie, a winner will be determined by drawing. Teams need to have at least 50% participation rate to win.

     

    10.   PRIZES
    Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category and division. The following are possible prizes. This is subject to change.

      1. 1st Place: Items may include 1-hour Massage, bookstore gift card, or Birthday Party 40% discount (please contact Department of Recreation Services for more information)

      2. 2nd Place: Items may include 30-minute massage, Group Fitness Semester Pass, bookstore gift card, or Redbucks

      3. 3rd Place: Items may include 1-hour personal training session, bookstore gift card, or Redbucks

     

    11.   CREATIVE TEAM NAME CONTEST
    Names submitted on the team registration form will be automatically entered into the contest. A committee will judge the team names based on the following criteria: creativity, originality, and the promotion of wellness/fitness/health and/or Southeast school spirit incorporated in the name. A catered lunch ($75 value) will be awarded to the winner.

     

    12.   SHAPE UP SPIRIT AWARD

    The Shape Up Spirit Award is to recognize an individual who motivates and inspires others for a healthy lifestyle. Individuals may submit their nomination by E-mail stating why one deserves to be recognized for his/her motivation and inspiration.  The submission deadline is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2014.  Submit the nomination should be sent to Sara Wagganer, Assistant Director, Fitness & Wellness (573-651-2367/swagganer@semo.edu/MS 7100).

     

    13.   WRAP UP PARTY
    A Wrap Up Party will be held at Noon on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in the Student Recreation Center-North. Winners will be announced, prizes will be awarded, and refreshments will be served.
