Effective Classroom Strategies

STARR Teachers are instructional specialists.  They offer a variety of presentations to enhance student achievement in a warm, student-centered classroom.

 The following presentations are available for Effective Classroom Strategies:  The Top Nine Most Effective Practices, Cooperative Learning, Brain Research-Based Learning,  Graphic Organizers, Socratic Seminars, Active Learning,  Multiple Intelligences, Learning Styles,  Higher Level Thinking Techniques, Effective and Alternative Lecture Methods, and Framework for Understanding Poverty.

Curriculum and Assessment Issues

STARR Teachers aid area schools with curriculum and assessment issues.  Presentations and consultations have been given in several areas: Curriculum Alignment, Crystal Reports, MAP Testing and Tips, Benchmarks, Alterative Assessments, Scoring Guide Development, and Test Development Tips. 

Building Relationship Topics

 STARR Teachers know that best teaching depends upon the relationships built among students, teachers, parents, administrators, and the community.  There are several topics that help build these bonds: Classroom Environment, Classroom Teambuilding, Classroom Management Tips, Cooperative Discipline, Character Education, Professional Learning Communities, Staff Peer/Study Groups, and Staff Teambuilding.

 Effective Reading and Writing Instruction

 STARR Teachers promote the latest in literacy techniques.  Presentations as well as classroom modeling in reading and writing instruction are very popular.  STARRs offer quality literacy assistance in Four Block Reading, Reading and Writing in Middle and Secondary Schools as well as Across the Content Areas, Power Writing, Writing for the MAP, and Writing Workshop.
