Southeast Missouri State University

The Greek students here at Southeast become involved with the University Community outside of their individual chapters. In fact 66.31% (553 of 834) of Greek Students are involved in other student organizations including: Missouri National Education Association, Student Alumni Association, Student Government, All University Judicial Board, and Student Activities Council just to name a few. There are also organizations that have an immediate focus on the Greek Community listed below:

GAMMA

GAMMA stands for Greeks Advocating Mature Management of Alcohol.  All across the country, fraternity and sorority undergraduates are re-examining the role alcohol plays in their chapters, and are coming up with new and viable strategies for promoting fun, healthy, and safe chapter activities. GAMMA is a tool for Greek leaders to educate their members about the critical need for developing greater individual responsibility where alcohol is concerned, and in the process help provide for a more rewarding fraternal experience.

Greek Area Council (GAC)

Greek Area Council is the residence hall association for Greek housing.  GAC meets every other week to address various housing problems and concerns.  The council also receives money from student incidental fees that can be used to help fund various programs and allocations to help improve Greek life.

Order of Omega

Order of Omega is a Greek honorary society in which only three percent of the Greek Community are members.  The purpose of the organization is to recognize junior or senior-standing students that have attained a high standard of leadership and academic achievement, and that have outstanding character.  Along with hosting programs to further the education of the Greek system, they also recognize Greek students who excel in leadership with the Order of Omega Greek of the Month Award.

Rho Lambda

Rho Lambda, the National Panhellenic Recognition Honor Society, was founded in 1962.  The purpose of the organization is to honor Greek women who have displayed outstanding academic achievements and leadership abilities throughout their years of sorority affiliation.  Each year, Rho Lambda hosts the Greek Academic Achievement banquet, that recognizes Greek men and women that received a 3.0 or above GPA during either the Fall or Spring semester.

Junior Panhellenic Council

The Junior Panhellenic Council works to introduce and inform new members to sorority life and maintain inter-sorority relations.  This group works in conjunction with the Panhellenic Council to promote campus and community relations through service activities and each year puts on Princess for a Day for young underprivileged girls.

The Junior Panhellenic Council is comprised of two delegates, normally new members, chosen by their sorority chapter to serve a one-year term on the board.  This Council provides a great introduction to Greek and campus leadership for young, sorority women.
